Good news: the A&S Writing Center is open for business daily– from 10 to 7 Monday through Thursday, to 5 Friday –through the end of winter quarter exam week. Please remind your students that we welcome them to bring us any sort of writing concern. As always, sessions will run approximately 50 minutes and we prefer students to phone ahead to make an appointment: 556-3912. We can answer questions and even deal with some projects through our website: http://www.artsci.uc.edu/writingcenter. We can now report on visits by email! Though we are not an editing or proofreading service, we do offer help to improve those skills. We suggest that students bring drafts with them, if possible, along with assignments and prompts. Booking earlier in the quarter will assure students the times they want. If you have questions, please contact us—and if you need a classroom testimonial for our service, let us know. Thanks for your support!

1) Please describe your background in high school and college writing. What kinds of experiences are associated with it? What do you hope to learn about it?

2) Describe your experience and comfort with computers in general:

3) Do you have regular access to a computer? What kind

4) Do you know how to code in html or any other language?

5) What are some of your primary areas of interest, in and out of school?

6) What is the longest academic paper you have written (in high school or college)?

7) What was your paper about?

When given a writing assignment, do you tend to write more pages than the assignment calls for, or do you find it difficult to reach the minimum page requirement?

9) What part of the writing process do you find most challenging (i.e., getting started, organizing your ideas, incorporating evidence into your own text, citation, revising)?

10) What part of the writing process do you find most satisfying or enjoyable?

11) If you were given a round trip ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

12) What is your favorite text to read?

13) Anything else you feel I need to know about you as a learner, (i.e., you’re shy and don’t want to be called on—which is not to say that I won’t, but just so I know–, you work best in groups, individually, you save things to the last minute, you work best in the morning, etc.).
